AMENDMENT TO THE DUTCHESS COUNTY CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

FAMILY & HUMAN SERVICES RESOLUTION NO. 2026114 RE: AMENDMENT TO THE DUTCHESS COUNTY CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Legislators VALDÉS SMITH, ATKINS, MUNN, ARNOFF, BRENDLI, DRAGO, KAUL, LAWLER, MCHOUL, REDL, SHAH and WINSBY offer the following and move its adoption: WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 421 of 1989, the Dutchess County Legislature created at Citizens Advisory Committee on Domestic Violence, by which seven members were to be appointed by the Chair of the Legislature, subject to confirmation by the County Legislature; and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 325 of 1990, the Dutchess County Legislature amended Resolution No. 421 of 1989 to expand membership of the Committee from seven to nine members; and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 356 of 1990, the Dutchess County Legislature amended Resolution No. 421 of 1989 and Resolution No. 325 of 1990, to further expand membership of the committee from nine to twelve members; and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 153 of 1991, the Dutchess County Legislature inadvertently purported to expand membership from nine to eleven members, and, once the resulting discrepancy was noted, the Dutchess County Legislature repealed Resolution No. 153 of 1991, by Resolution No. 42 of 1993; and WHEREAS, it has been deemed advisable that the Citizen’s Advisory Committee on Domestic Violence be restructured with respect to membership and establishing terms and a schedule of reappointment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that Resolutions No. 421 of 1989, 325 of 1990, and 356 of 1990 are amended to provide as follows: the membership of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Domestic Violence shall be comprised of thirteen members as follows: FAMILY & HUMAN SERVICES 1. Twelve members shall be appointed by the Chair of Legislature, subject to confirmation of the County Legislature, two serve two-year terms, with each term commencing on January 1 and expiring on December 31 of the following year, with six terms commencing in odd-numbered years, and six terms commencing in even- numbered years, and 2. One member of the County Legislature shall be appointed by the Chair of the Legislature to serve as Legislator-Member, with such term running concurrently with the term of the Legislator as a member of the County Legislature.
