DESIGNATION OF DUTCHESS TOURISM, INC. AS THE TOURISM PROMOTION AGENCY (TPA) FOR THE COUNTY OF DUTCHESS

BUDGET, FINANCE & PERSONNEL RESOLUTION NO. 2025010 RE: DESIGNATION OF DUTCHESS TOURISM, INC. AS THE TOURISM PROMOTION AGENCY (TPA) FOR THE COUNTY OF DUTCHESS Legislators CASWELL, TRUITT, HOUSTON, POLASEK, GORMAN, D'AQUANNI, and MC HOUL offer the following and move its adoption: WHEREAS, Dutchess County continues to develop plans for tourism, marketing, and promotion and desires to promote the historical, cultural, and environmental resources of the County to promote tourism, and WHEREAS, Article 5-A of the Economic Development Law, known as the New York State Tourist Promotion Act, authorizes the State Commissioner of Economic Development to match funds expended by recognized tourist promotion agencies, based upon guidelines determined by the Commissioner, and WHEREAS, pursuant to Article 5-A of the Economic Development Law, to qualify for this fund-matching program, the governing body of the County of Dutchess must first designate a Tourism Promotion Agency (TPA) as defined by such law as the agency authorized to make an application for and receive Tourism Matching Funds for Dutchess County, and WHEREAS, Dutchess Tourism, Inc., is recognized as a Tourism Promotion Agency (TPA), and is, therefore, qualified to apply for Tourism Matching Funds, and WHEREAS, most recently the County of Dutchess designated Dutchess Tourism Inc., as the Tourism Promotion Agency (TPA) for the County via Resolution No. 2018279, and WHEREAS, Dutchess Tourism Inc. has been informed by I Love NY that they have updated their required documentation for matching funds grants and that the County Resolution designating them as the Tourism Promotion Agency (TPA) for Dutchess County should state a period (such as a date or number of years) that the resolution will remain in effect, or that it remains in effect until rescinded, now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that Dutchess County Tourism, Inc. is hereby designated the Tourism Promotion Agency (TPA) for Dutchess County until rescinded by a future Resolution and is authorized to make applications and receive grants for the purposes spegifisove the New York Economic Development Law. The Resolution designating them as the Tourism Promotion Agency for Dutchess County should state a period (such as a date or number of years) that the resolution will remain in effect, or that it remains in effect until rescinded. The current resolution 2018279 does not meet those requirements, I have attached a revised resolution that incorporates the new required language.
