FAMILY & HUMAN SERVICES RE: RESOLUTION NO. 2025026 CONFIRMING APPOINTMENT TO THE DUTCHESS COUNTY VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE Legislators GARITO, TRUITT, HOUSTON, D'AQUANNI, MC HOUL, VERSACI, GORMAN, ROLISON, VALDES SMITH, and LAWLER offer the following and move its adoption: WHEREAS, there exists a vacancy on the Veterans Affairs Committee due to the resignation of Austin Miller, and WHEREAS, Jeffrey Moseman has expressed an interest in being appointed to said Committee, and WHEREAS, the Chairman of the Legislature hereby appoints Jeffrey Moseman to said committee, now therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Dutchess County Legislature does hereby ratify and confirm the appointment of Jeffrey Moseman, said terms commencing immediately and expiring as set forth below. I served a total of 22 years in the military during which time I was active duty in the U.S. Navy from October 1983-87 during which time I deployed 3 times to the Middle East as a member of the Multi National Peacekeeping Forces in Beiruit, Lebanon. During my second deployment we were extended twice as we prepared and carried out Operation El Dorado Canyon, which was the bombing of Libya in April 1986 in retaliation of acts of terrorism brought on by Momah Khadafy. After being Honorably Discharged I continued my military service with the 105th Air Wing of the Air National Guard based out of Stewart Air Base in Newburgh, N.Y. During my time with the 105th | was a Gulf War Era Veteran, worked details for Presidential visits to the Hudson Valley and was a rescue worker at Ground Zero. I retired in 2005 at the rank of Technical Sergeant. I continue to volunteer for a few Veterans groups including : Commander of VFW Post 9008 in Millbrook, N.Y. I serve on the Board of Hudson Valley Shred Vets, which is a peer to peer support group that provides a free day out on the mountain at local ski areas for Veterans to get outside during the winter months to learn to ski or snowboard. There is no costs for Veterans to participate in this program. I'm an Ambassador for Play For Your Freedom, which is a non profit organization that provides monthly sports clinics for Veterans that are in programs at Veterans Medical Centers in New York and New Jersey. We host these clinics on the indoor turf field at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center. Thank you for your consideration.
