PROCLAMATION: WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH

DUTCHESS COUNTY LEGISLATURE Proclamation: March 2025 as Women's History Month Resolution No. 2025047 The Dutchess County Legislature offers the following and moves its adoption: WHEREAS, American women of every race, class, and ethnic background have made historic contributions to the growth and strength of our nation, in countless recorded, and un-recorded ways, and WHEREAS, American women have played and continue to play critical cultural and social roles in every sphere of the life of the nation and constitute and lead in every portion of the labor force, and, WHEREAS, American women have been the force behind the establishment of early charitable, philanthropic, and cultural institutions in our nation, and are vital to the fabric of our nation and WHEREAS, American women of every race, class, and ethnic background served as early leaders in the forefront of every major progressive, social change movement, and have been leaders not only in securing their own rights of suffrage and equal opportunity, but also in the abolitionist movement, the emancipation movement, the labor movement, and the civil rights movement, and WHEREAS, despite these contributions the role of American women in history has been consistently overlooked and undervalued, in the literature, teaching, and study of American history, and WHEREAS, American women contribute to our workforce, community, education, and entrepreneurship in Dutchess County, and WHEREAS, American women proudly serve at every level of the Dutchess County Government and institutions, now, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Dutchess County Legislature does hereby proclaim March 2025 as Women's History Month and does hereby urge all residents of the county to observe, participate, and celebrate the achievements and contributions of women throughout history. STATE OF NEW YORK SS: COUNTY OF DUTCHESS This is to certify that I, the undersigned Deputy Clerk of the Legislature of the County of Dutchess, have compared the foregoing resolution with the original resolution now on file in the office of said clerk, and which was adopted by said Legislature on the 10% day of March 2025, and that the same is a true and correct transcript of said original resolution and of the whole thereof.
