My affiliation with the college has spanned many years in various ways from the time I graduated in 1978 until today. Dutchess Community College is a jewel in our community, and I was fortunate enough to begin my college education there directly after graduating from Arlington High School. As a lifelong resident of Dutchess County, I feel it is important to always give back to the community in which we all live. Our community is strengthened by the incredible work that the college and faculty put in towards the betterment of our children in furthering their education. My wife, several of our children and myself have all gone the route of furthering our education at Dutchess Community College. My affiliation with the college has been in several ways. I am a member of the Dutchess Community College Hall of Fame; I am a past member of the Dutchess Community College Foundation Board and currently aid students in financial need via three scholarships that I fund though the DCC Foundation's offices. Again, it is all about giving back to the institution that provided me with a foundation for my career as an Architect. My architectural office, which I founded 38 years ago, was based on when my partners and I came together all as Dutchess Community College students. We were fortunate enough to form a bond at the college which ultimately provided us with a local firm that has been very successful for many years. As an Architectural firm we have been involved with various projects on the campus such as the Daycare Center, the Falcon Halls addition, the residence hall, the original DCC South, and various other renovation projects. I have an intimate knowledge of the college's physical plant from going to school there as well as working on the campus. Having been a business owner in Dutchess County I also understand the fiscal viability of running a business here. Dutchess Community College is a business and the fiscal responsibility for the longevity of the institution is critical. Enrollment has been down, which correlates directly to the fiscal health of the college as the revenue is based on the number of students that attend the school. We must ensure that the programs and the direction of the college are based on studies and facts so that the sustainability of the college for future generations is there. I will do my best to guide the college to fiscal stability if so chosen to become a trustee. My background with the college as well as being a successful local businessperson provides for a valuable basis to become a Trustee of the college. If you have any questions, I look forward to providing answers and thank you to you and the Legislature for this consideration of my intentions to become a trustee. Very truly yours, Liscum McCormack Van Voorhis Michael TJ McCormack, AIA Budget, Finance, and Personnel Sub-Committee Roll Call District Name District 2 - LaGrange/Pleasant Valley/Town of Poughkeepsie Travelpiece District 3 - LaGrange [Polasek* District 7 - Hyde Park/ Town of Poughkeepsie Truitt* District 9 - City of Poughkeepsie Atkins* District 10 - City of Poughkeepsie Johnson District 16 - Fishkill/Beacon Valdés Smith* District 21 - Town of East Fishkill Caswell District 25 - Towns of Amenia/Washington/Pleasant Valley Houston* * = Ex Officio Total: Yes No Recommendations: The Sub-Commute recommends Michael McCormack for appantment as ble beart Trustee.
