Capital Project Resolution - FF&E and Technology Replacements and Upgrades
August 26, 2025
Dutchess Community College is requesting a resolution be presented for legislative approval for FF&E
and Technology Replacements and Upgrades. The project is being requested at this time in order to meet
the SUNY Capital Request deadline for inclusion in the NYS Budget Appropriations for 2026-2027.
SUNY requires the resolutions before December 15, 2025.
This project provides funding for the acquisition of classroom and office technology
equipment, laboratory equipment, furniture campus wide (including office furniture, desks,
tables and chairs) and plant operations equipment including trucks, mowers, and other
operations equipment).
Increasingly, the power of a DCC education relies on our ability to offer students an education
that provides skills that will serve them well in employment and more advance learning,
experiences that will complement learning and hone pathways that prepare them for in-demand
and well-paying jobs, and offer credentials that demonstrate to employers, baccalaureate and
other institutions their readiness for certain career and learning pathways. Modern technology
and spaces are essential to enhance pedagogy. To ensure the DCC's physical assets are up-to-
date, the ongoing investment in technology, laboratory facilities, maintenance and replacement
of classroom and office furniture and plant operations equipment is crucial. Up-to-date
furniture, equipment, and facilities make the college more modern and attractive to students,
which is a significant factor in the enrollment decisions families make. In the current
competitive higher education environment, it is not enough to offer the lowest tuition in our
sector, we must be able to compete on multiple levels, including facilities. The ability to
address these FF&E, technology replacements and upgrades will improve DCC's competitive
advantage in recruiting more of local college-age prospects, thereby address an important
performance objective to grow and retain more local talent to support economic and workforce
development.
The total estimated cost of the project is $500,000. The sponsor share of the project, $250,000,
will be funded through the College's Capital Chargeback Funds.
Thank you.

Questions related to strengthening DCC….
• What are the academic needs of the students?
• What tools and technology do the students - faculty need to succeed?
• How can we create a more collaborative atmosphere for student and
faculty interaction - social and academic?
• How can we help them succeed? What are the obstacles?
• What careers offer regional employment opportunities?
• How can we best serve Dutchess + Putnam County's needs?
